Influenced by phenomenology and formal sociology, Goffman introduced concepts such as primary frame, fragment, tone, tuning, fabrication, and hierarchy in this book, built a systematic frame theory system, and then described in detail the changes in the frame and the organization of the experience it affects.​​​
