Literature Review: This NGO-academic report analyzes over a century of domestic worker characters in film and television to quantify their on-screen portrayal​. It finds that fictional domestics are frequently misrepresented – portrayed as disproportionately white and subjected to derogatory stereotypes – highlighting how such media tropes distort public perceptions of real domestic workers and the value of their labor.​​​
